NHL News: Game 7, Ducks, Avs, Wild, Flyers, Pens, Sharks, Canucks and Jets
Joe Thornton won't be able to go in Game 1. Evgeny Malkin update could come today.
On Game 7 …

NHL Public Relations: Game 7 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins will be on Wednesday at 7:30. In the U.S. it will be on NBCSN and in Canada it will be on CBC, Sportsnet and TVA Sports.

On the Anaheim Ducks …

Anaheim Ducks: The Ducks won’t be extending the contract of assistant coach Trent Yawney. “While we decided to go in another direction, we thank Trent for his seven years with the Ducks organization, especially in helping develop our young defensemen. Trent is a driven and passionate coach, and we wish him the very best in the future.”

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Ryan Boulding: The Avs and head coach Jared Bednar agreed on an additional year to his contract last week. He now has two years left on his deal.

On the Minnesota Wild ...

Minnesota Wild: The Wild announced they will not renew the contract of GM Chuck Fletcher. Senior VP of Hockey Operations Brent Flahr will act as the GM while their search for a new GM begins.

Chad Graff: Wild owner Craig Leipold said they are not going to be rebuilding and he won’t hire a GM that wants to tear down the roster and start over: “We are not far from being the team we need to be.”

Minnesota Wild: Coach Bruce Boudreau on their injuries: “We didn’t need any surgeries. There were guys banged up. Joel was hurt — there’s reason he wasn’t taking faceoffs. Charlie had some injuries we don’t know the extent of.”

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Philadelphia Flyers: The Flyers have loaned forward Oskar Lindblom and defenseman Travis Sanheim to the AHL.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Sam Werner: The Penguins had an off day yesterday, so an update on Evgeny Malkin won’t come until today.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz of The Athletic: The Sharks have said that Joe Thornton won’t be ready to go for Game 1 against the Vegas Golden Knights later this week. Thornton continues to skate but isn’t up to game speed yet. It still looks like he’s dealing with some pain or weakness in the right knee.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Vancouver Canucks: The Canucks have reassigned Reid Boucher to the AHL.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Scott Billeck: The Jets gave no updates on any of their injured players.

Ken Wiebe: Goaltender Steve Mason was on the ice yesterday morning. A good sign that his lower-body injury is improving.
