NHL News: Carolina Hurricanes Sign Scott Darling To Four Year Deal
Scott Darling signs a four year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes

Terrell Williams of the Carolina Hurricanes: The Hurricanes have signed recently acquired goaltender Scott Darling to a four-year, $16.6 million contract – a $4.15 million salary cap hit.

“Obviously Scott could have waited until July 1, to see what other options he might have as an unrestricted free agent,” said Francis. “But he believes in what we are trying to do here and we are thrilled that he is committing to the Hurricanes and to Raleigh.”

The Hurricanes sent a third round pick that was previously acquired from Ottawa to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Chris Johnston: Need to remember that the Hurricanes were buying UFA years as he would have been a free agent on July 1st.

The Hurricanes now have three goaltenders under contract for next season. Cam Ward has another year left at $3.3 million and Eddie Lack has a year left at $2.75 million.

The Hurricanes have 16 players under contract for next at about $45.6 million.
