On the Boston Bruins …

Mike Loftus: Coach Bruce Cassidy indicated that defenseman Adam McQuaid needs more practices before they decide where and when he will slot in.

Joe Haggerty: Adam McQuaid: “I’ve said to some people that I can choose between getting hurt once in a while and missing some time, or playing a different style and probably not playing at all. I don’t foresee anything changing with me in that way.”

Joe Haggerty: Forward Ryan Spooner is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Coach Bruce Cassidy said that Noel Acciari has been playing with a minor injury that swelled up before Saturday’s game.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Nick Kypreos: The Montreal Canadiens will loan defenseman Victor Mete to Hockey Canada for the World Junior Championship.

Pierre LeBrun: The Canadiens haven’t decided yet what they will do with Mete after the World Juniors. They will likely wait until after the tournament, or close to it’s ending, before making a final decision.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Sam Werner: Looking like goaltender Matt Murray could return on Thursday in Vegas.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Chris Ryan of NJ.com: Both Marcus Johansson and Kyle Palmieri didn’t practice yesterday. Palmieri has been skating on his own but hasn’t practiced with the team since breaking his foot on Nov. 20th.

The Devils announced that Johansson is day-to-day with an ankle bruise. He blocked a shot in the second period of Saturday’s game and was able to finish the game.
