Western Conference News: Avalanche, Oilers, Canucks, and Jets
Sven Baertschi returned to the Canucks lineup last night.
On the Colorado Avalanche …

Colorado Avalanche: The Avs have assigned Andrew Hammond, AJ Greer and Andrei Mironov to the AHL.

Jesse Montano: (After assigning the Hammond, Greer, and Mironov to the AHL) Goaltender Semyon Varlamov‘s injury may not be that bad. Can expect Sven Andrighetto and/or JT Compher to return following their bye week.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Bob Stauffer: “Oilers fans. I know you are disappointed in the poor season to date. In the last 10 years, the Oilers have had 4 GM’s and 7 Head Coaches. Do you want to be the Cleveland Browns or learn from the Tampa Bay Lightning?… who stuck with John Cooper after tough ’16-’17 season.”

Mark Spector: “Appearing to have quit on each other and their coach, you wonder if management will give the players a crutch by firing McLellan. That would be the WORST move, IMO.”

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Vancouver Canucks: Forward Sven Baertschi returned to the lineup last night.

Vancouver Canucks: Coach Travis Green on defenseman Chris Tanev last night: “Tanev lost a lot of teeth. Can’t play tonight, needs dental surgery. But he’ll play again on this trip, with protection.”

Dan Murphy: Some of Tanev’s teeth were embedded in his tongue.

After he took the puck to the face … he was riding a stationary bike during the first intermission in case the medical personnel gave him clearance to return to the game.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Jamie Thomas: Forward Adam Lowry missed yesterday’s game with an upper-body injury.

Winnipeg Jets PR: Defenseman Toby Enstrom was activated from the IR.
