Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: Forward Ales Hemsky said that his rehab from his October hip surgery is going well and he hopes to play soon.

“We don’t have a target, but I feel great and I think that I can maybe be playing soon,” said Hemsky, whose contract is up after this season. “I started skating slowly a while back, and now I am skating faster and I think I can start practicing. Once I start practicing, then it’s just a matter of time.”

Hemsky won’t play on their three-game road trip, but coach Lindy Ruff said “I know he feels good, and he’s ahead of schedule. That’s a good sign.”
