NHL Injuries: Pens, Caps, Lightning, Hawks, Flames, Stars, Wild, Coyotes and Blues
Sidney Crosby and Jonathan Toews
On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Dave Molinari: Center Sidney Crosby said he went through concussion protocol, but the issue was a stinger in his neck.

On the Washington Capitals …

Tom Gulitti: Defenseman Matt Niskanen said he’s feeling better, but there is no decision on if he’ll play today.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: Looking like Ryan Callahan suffered a setback from his lower-body injury. Callahan said on Wednesday that the hip he had surgery on was nagging him.

“We’re not going to put Callahan in position where he’ll be out long term,” Cooper said. “Whether you call it a setback, I don’t know what the term is. But we’re just not comfortable with him playing. He probably wants to play a little bit more, but we’re holding him back a little bit. We’ve got to think long-term here. So if we keep him out a little bit longer that’s what we have to do.”

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Tracey Myers: Coach Joel Quenneville said that Jonathan Toews could skate today.

On the Calgary Flames …

Wes Gilbertson: Flames winger Kris Versteeg missed his second game, but coach Glenn Gulutzan added “I can’t see it being much longer.”

On the Dallas Stars …

Mike Heika: Jiri Hudler and Johnny Oduya were able to return yesterday.

Mike Heika: The earliest return for Mattias Janmark is March. Will check when they return from the road trip if there are any updates.

On the Minnesota Wild …

Dane Mizutani: Defenseman Christian Folin practiced yesterday and is cleared to play.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports: The Coyotes put winger Max Domi on the IR yesterday with an upper-body injury and is retroactive to Thursday. He didn’t return after getting a cut under his eye from a fight on Tuesday. The Coyotes didn’t say if he went through concussion protocol.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Blues defenseman Carl Gunnarsson is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
