Ryan Boulding: Goaltender Semyon Varlamov‘s season is over after the team shut him down so that he can have surgery on his groin.

“We can’t put him in the net if it’s just going to be temporary, short-term . So we have to come up with a way to make sure he’s either playing, or he’s doing the right things so he is put in a position to be able to play a lot of games,” he said. “I would say that could be an option, yes.”

On the St. Louis Blues …

St. Louis Blues: Forward Kyle Brodziak was put on the IR with a right foot injury. He will be re-evaluated in five weeks. The Blues recalled forward Ivan Barbashev.

Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: Forward Max Domi has been out with a broken hand. He could start practicing with the team on Monday, and possibly returning to the lineup in two weeks.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Vancouver Canucks: Coach Willie Desjardins said that forward Jannik Hansen will start skating with the team after the All-Star break. Defenseman Ben Hutton will start skating shortly after that.
