Adam Vingan of the TennesseanP.K. Subban missed his fifth straight game with an upper-body injury.

“A little disappointing,” Predators general manager David Poile told 102.5-FM on Tuesday afternoon. “We all thought that there was a good chance that he would skate today with the idea of maybe playing later this week, but that didn’t happen. We’re going to have a little meeting tonight with P.K. and the doctors just to see where we are.”

Poile would neither confirm nor deny the rumor that Subban has a herniated disc.

On the Los Angeles Kings …

Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider: Tyler Toffoli has a lower-body injury and there is no timetable on when he could return to the lineup. Sense from Darryl Sutter‘s comments yesterday were that he won’t be an option in the near future. Toffoli isn’t traveling with the team on their two game road trip.

“We’ll get him looked at again early after the new year, so it’ll be at least a week before we even look at him again,” Sutter said.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mike HeikaPatrick Sharp is progressing from his concussion and could play on Thursday against the Avalanche.

Mike Heika: Sharp missed his 11th game last night from this concussion stint. He came back in November and played seven games before concussion symptoms re-appeared.

Pat Steinberg: Coach Glen Gulutzan said they are hoping that Mikael Backlund‘s injury is just a bruise. He left in the second period after blocking a shot.

Curtis Zupka: Coach Randy Carlyle said that Sami Vatanen was sent home with the flu and will be re-evaluated today before they leave for their road trip.
