Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Forward Evgeni Malkin missed last night’s game with an upper-body injury that he’s been dealing with for “a little while now.” He left their morning skate early yesterday. Coach Mike Sullivan didn’t offer a timetable on when Malkin would return.

“We’ll know more information probably in the next 24 hours,” Sullivan said.

The Penguins were also without Ran Hainsey last night and he’s now listed as week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

They are without Trevor Daley, Olli Maatta, Bryan Rust, Carl Hagelin, and Kris Letang as well. Letang, Rust and Maatta did skate before practice yesterday, but it’s not known how close they are.

My shot is getting better and the doctor said can’t get worse. If it hurts sometimes when I shoot or whatever, it can’t get any worse. So I want to get back in. I’m hungry, I’ve been out for a while now and I can’t wait to get back in. I’m excited.”
