Coach Alain Vigneault said that Dan Girardi is “more than day-to-day” with a hip flexor injury. Kevin Klein is didn’t skate at at all last week due to back spasms.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Jason Gregor: Oilers backup Jonas Gustavsson didn’t come out for the third period last night as an independent NHL in-house spotter checked him out and determined that he was not okay to go back in.

On the New York Islanders …

Brett Cyrgalis: The Islanders put Shane Prince on the IR retroactive to October 15th with a lower-body injury.

Arthur Staple of Newsday: Islanders forward Casey Cizikas left in the third period with a leg injury. He blocked a shot in second period with the back of his leg.

On the Boston Bruins …

Fluto Shinzawa: Coach Claude Julian is optimistic that Tuukka Rask will be ready for tonight. David Backes is okay and Patrice Bergeron is skating back in Boston.

Steve Conroy: With Bergeron skating back in Boston, it’s unlikely that he plays tonight, though he hasn’t been ruled out yet.
