  • Jenn Menendez: Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury: “Just one day at a time. …we’ll see how it goes in the next few days. Hopefully everything is good.”
  • Pens Inside Scoop: Defenseman Olli Maatta had no restrictions at practice yesterday. He’d been skating on his own, but yesterday was his first practice. He doesn’t know if he’ll be ready for Game 1.

  • Arthur Staple: Both Travis Hamonic and Brian Strait skated yesterday. The rest of the team was off.
  • Arthur Staple of Newsday: Jaroslav Halak didn’t skate yesterday. He’s five weeks into his projected six to eight week timeframe. Coach Jack Capuano said on the weekend that Halak is “still a ways away.” Mikhail Grabovski, out with concussion symptoms, still isn’t skating and it appears that his season could be over.

  • Pat Leonard: Defenseman Ryan McDonagh skated before practice, but wasn’t holding onto his stick with his right hand.
  • Pat Leonard: Eric Staal, Viktor Stalberg, Mats Zuccarello and Dan Girardi were on the ice for practice.

  • Tracey Myers: Defenseman Viktor Svedberg didn’t practice yesterday. He suffered a lower-body injury on the weekend.

  • Michael Russo: Zach Parise is still day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. Sources saying that he was seeing a specialist at the Mayo Clinic yesterday after he aggravated a back injury a week ago. He’s been bothered by it since January.Source saying that Thomas Vanek is ‘Iffy” to play in their first round. He has an upper-body injury.

    Erik Haula has missed two practices with an undisclosed injury. Coach John Torchetti thinks he’ll be able to go.
