On the San Jose Sharks …

  • Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News: Logan Couture returned from a broken fibula earlier this week, but is now out indefinitely after requiring emergency surgery to stop bleeding in his right thigh. The surgery was performed on Thursday. From Sharks GM Doug Murray, Couture …

“suffered trauma to his right thigh, creating a Charley-horse effect which prohibited him from returning to the game.”

There is no timetable for his return, but they are not expecting it to be long-term. Murray added that it was unrelated to the fractured right fibula.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

  • Iain MacIntyre of the Vancouver Sun: Dan Hamhuis had his first surgery yesterday morning to fix “multiple” fractures to his mouth area after being hit with a Dan Boyle slapshot. Coach Willie Desjardins estimated that Hamhuis will be out for at least two months. He also suffered a concussion on the play.

“He’ll be all right, but it might take a while,” defenceman Chris Tanev said. “The main thing is he gets healthy and hopefully he can join us later in the year. After he got hit, I think we were all in shock a little bit. We were all scared for him.”

“I haven’t seen that much blood, that quickly, on the ice ever,” defenceman Matt Bartkowski said.

  • Luca Sbisa’s hand injury will keep him out of the lineup until sometime after Christmas.

On the Edmonton Oilers …
