Eastern Conference Injuries: Red Wings, Rangers and Senators
Jimmy Howard and Mike Green of the Detroit Red Wings
On the Detroit Red Wings …

George Sipple: Sounding like defenseman Mike Green will return to the lineup tonight. He’s been out with a stomach virus.

Ted Kulfan: Goaltender Jimmy Howard was on the ice for their optional skate yesterday and was taking shots.

George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press: Howard said he’s just not quite there yet with his knee. It’s not known yet if he’ll head to Grand Rapid (AHL) on a rehab stint.

“There’s quite a few different scenarios right now that we’re kicking around,” Howard said. “Hopefully, we can do it sooner rather than later.”

The Wings are on their bye this week, but Howard doesn’t plan on taking it off.

On the New York Rangers …

Brett Cyrgalis: Coach Alain Vigneault said that forward Derek Stepan hurt his hip on Sunday, but is probable for today.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Gord WilsonMark Stone, Mike Hoffman, and Tommy Wingels all traveled with the team to New Jersey. Update on their status should come today.

Chris Stevenson of NHL.com: Senators forward Bobby Ryan is out indefinitely with a right index finger injury.

“He’ll be out for a while. If it’s broken, we’re talking 3-6 weeks,” Boucher said. “This obviously comes at a bad moment. Let’s not kid ourselves. This team is battling hard to make the playoffs and we desperately need him in the lineup. He was going really good and you take a guy of that caliber, he’s got the size and the smarts to be able to play against big teams and can fit on any line, those guys you don’t replace.”
