Braden Holtby and Brooks Orpik

On the Washington Capitals …

Chuck Gormley of CSN Mid Atlantic: Goaltender Braden Holtby left practice early yesterday after a collision with a teammate. After the collision, Holtby was stretching his leg before leaving the ice. Coach Barry Trotz said that Holtby was a little “nicked up,” and added “I don’t anticipate him not playing” tonight.

Chuck Gormley of CSN Mid Atlantic: Coach Barry Trotz confirmed yesterday that Brooks Orpik is out tonight after suffering an upper-body injury from a Ryan White hit. Mike Weber or Taylor Chorney could fill in for Orpik.

On the Minnesota Wild …

Chad Graff: Winger Zach Parise skated on his own yesterday morning. Thomas Vanek was skating with teammates yesterday.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Kyle Bukauskas: Coach Mike Sullivan on Marc-Andre Fleury: “Marc is still day to day but he is not going to play tonight”

On the Nashville Predators …

John Glennon of the Tennessean: Forward Craig Smith suffered a lower-body injury on his first shift last night. He tried to return later in the period, but after his 41 second shift, he left and didn’t return. If Smith isn’t able to go in Game 4, they could move Colin Wilson up to the seceond line, Mikka Salomaki up to the third and one of the healthy scratchs – Eric Nystron, Colton Sissons or Austin Watson – could draw in.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ansar Khan: Defenseman Alexei Marchenko took 12 stitches to the head in Game 3. He was feeling okay yesterday morning, but wasn’t feeling well later in the day.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mike Heika: Jamie Benn was given a day off yesterday. Lindy Ruff: “I just gave him a maintenance day, I thought it would be the best thing for him.” When asked if there was an injury or illness, Ruff responded: “No nothing. The fans don’t need to worry, there’s nothing to worry about.”
