Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop will be out for three to four weeks with a lower-body injury. They have recalled Kristers Gudlevskis yesterday.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: The full extent of Jimmy Howard‘s injury won’t be known for a few days. GM Ken Holland said yesterday that he would be “out awhile.” Holland said it wasn’t related to a groin injury that bother Howard earlier this season. Tuesday night both Nick Jensen and Erik Condra landed on Howard, who left without putting weight on his right leg. The Wings put Howard on the IR and recalled Jared Coreau for their trip to Florida.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Stu Cowan of Hockey Inside/Out: Canadiens Defenseman Andrei Markov missed Tuesday’s games with a lower-body injury and will be out tonight. Coach Michel Therrien would be surprised if Markov would be able to play on Friday.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Andrew Gross: Devils forwards Jacob Josefson (upper-body) and Vern Fiddler didn’t skate yesterday.

Kristen Shilton: The Maple Leafs have put forward Ben Smith on the IR and recalled Byron Froese.

Mark Stepneski: Stars defensemen Johnny Oduya and Stephen Johns didn’t practice yesterday as both are a little banged up. Forward Antoine Roussel left practice early with an injury, but they don’t think it’s serious.

Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area: There is still no timetable for Tomas Hertl‘s return from his November 18th knee surgery. Source saying he has been riding a bike and is “making progress.”
