  • Ben Kuzma via twitter: Canucks GM Mike Gillis on Shane Doan: “We’ve been in constant contact. He’s clearly a player we’d like to have in Vancouver and we’re going to wait it out.”
  • Rick Stephens of All Habs: Stephens responds to a question that Andrei Kostitsyn may be the most “interesting” free agent out there.
  • Katie Carrera of the Washington Post: Capitals goalie Michal Neuvirth,

    “Obviously, I have a plan B,” Neuvirth said after an on-ice workout at KCI on Thursday. “I got a few offers from Europe but I haven’t decided. I still want to play here the whole season.”

  • Harvey Fialkov of the Sun-Sentinel: Panthers Peter Mueller is anxious to get back playing after years of dealing with concussion issues. Mueller signed a 1 year, $1.725 million deal in July:

    “It’s 100 percent behind me. I tell people all the time I haven’t felt this clear since my first year which is awesome,’’

    “I feel great on the ice and in the weight room, just in overall health, I feel a lot better than what I’m used to to, so that’s exciting and encouraging.

    “In some aspects I’m like a rookie again, obviously with the past. I’m thrilled to be with all these new faces and everyone’s welcomed me with open arms. It’s not every day you can play hockey in South Florida.’’

  • Duane Marsteller of the Tennessean: The Predators charter air service cancelled their contract with the team due to financial issues. The company also cancelled  contracts with the Avalanche, Nuggets and Suns. Swift Air LLC kept it’s contract with the Bruins, Blackhawks, Blues, Celtics and Bucks.
  • Rob Rossi via twitter: Gary Bettman said that a promising week “Ends in disappointment,” and called the NHLPAs offer a ‘response not a proposal.’ Renaud Lavoie via twitter: Bettman, “the union stood on their initial proposal.”
  • Donald Fehr’s press conference after yesterday’s meetings. The sides don’t have any meeting further scheduled. Renaud Lavoie via twitter: Fehr “”under our proposal will snap back to 57 % in the 4th year. The owners objected to that.” … “the proposal we made today was not accepted.” … “the only sports stable in America is baseball.”
