Morning Hits: Canucks, Panthers, Richards, Coyotes, Sabres and Jets
  • Kevin Weekes: Hearing that Willie Desjardins has chosen a multi-year deal with the Vancouver Canucks. Bob McKenzie: Deal not signed yet, but Willie Desjardins will be in Vancouver this weekend and he could introduced as their head coach next week.
  • George Richards: The Panthers are planning a 11:00 am press conference for Monday to introduce their new head coach. Not official, but signs pointing to Gerard Gallant. Talk is they did make an offer to Dan Bylsma.
  • John Shannon: Brad Richards can not sign a new deal until July 1st.
  • Stephen Whyno: At next week’s draft, the Pheonix Coyotes will become the Arizona Coyotes.
  • Mike Morreale:  The Sabres interviewed 72 players at the NHL combine.
  • John Boruk: There could be three or four Stadium Series games next year.
  • Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press: The Jets have attempted to increase/improve their depth at center in the past,but  unless they are able to sign a Paul Stastny or trade for Mike Richards, who has been linked through some rumors, they may have to wait for the kids to develop.
