St. Louis Open to Tampa Trading Him … Goalie Options for Philly … The Hudler Situation
  • Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: The Blues won’t be re-signing Paul Kariya. Martin St. Louis won’t get in the way of Tampa Bay if they want to trade him. Toronto could be the front runner to get Jussi Rynnas because of goalie coach Francois Allaire. Philly could send Simon Gagne to Boston for Tim Thomas, or they could send Claude Giroux to Florida for Tomas Vokoun.
  • George Malik of MLive: Malik has been looking for confirmation on the report that Jiri Hudler will be able to return to the Red Wings next season, but was unable to get it. Hudler’s Moscow Dynamo team is apparently has a financial situation and may be looking to get out of the $5 million contract for next season.
  • Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: A read asks Molinari if the Penguins will re-sign Alexei Ponikarovski, and if anything more that $2 million is too much. The Pens lack offensive depth on the wings, so it is a possibility, but it will all come down to money. He made $2.5 million this past season, and will likely be looking for more. If he’ll take a reasonable amount, maybe a little discount to play with Malkin or Crosby, he could return.
