Leafs Trade Jiri Tlusty to Canes for Philippe Paradis

The Toronto Maple Leafs have sent forward Jiri Tlusty to the Carolina Hurricanes for center Philippe Paradis.

Tlusty was selected 13th overall in 2006 by the Leafs, but has never been able to stick with the Leafs. He has 10 goals and 10 assists in 74 NHL games. In 19 games for the AHL Toronto Marlies this season, Tlusty has 8 goals and 7 assists. Tlusty was mentioned in trade rumors last week involving the Blackhawks, and it has appeared that he wasn`t in the Leafs immediate or long term future. With the all the injuries in Carolina this season, and with the shift to a youth movement, Tlusty should be in the NHL before long.

Philippe Paradis was a 2009 1st round pick by the Hurricanes, 27th overall. Paradis is currently playing for the Shawinigan Cataractes of the QMJHL. In 26 games so far this season, Paradis has 8 goals, 11 assists and 43 PIMs. Last year he had 19 goals, 31 assists, and 74 PIMs.
