Kings – Oilers talking Hemsky … White could be traded by ‘Canes soon … Pens playing waiting game … Phillips wants to stay in Ottawa
  • Will DePaoli of Inside Pittsbugh Sports: The Penguins have been scouting the Senators, Devils, Avalanche, and Panthers in recent days. They are hoping that as the days pass, more teams will fall out of playoff contention and become sellers, increasing the trade market. They will look for rental players, and not a longer term guy like an Ales Hemsky, they don’t want to give the assets to get a player like him. They don’t think there is another team interested in Alex Kovalev and could get him for a conditional 5th round pick. Organizational members are torn on Kovalev.
  • Bruce Garrioch via twitter: Chris Phillips declared today that he wants to stay in Ottawa and help with the rebuild. Phillips when he was asked if he wanted to stay, “I do and I know people will call me crazy for saying that.”
