On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

  • Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune: Erik Condra returned to the Lightning’s lineup this week, but lost J.T. Brown and Brian Boyle. The injured list now contains Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Drouin, Cedric Paquette, Joel Vermin, Ondrej Palat, Yanni Gourde, Brown and Boyle.Brown, Johnson, Drouin and Palat all skated yesterday.

    “The mere fact that we practically had two teams on the ice for the morning skate, everybody is getting closer,’’ Cooper said. “I know it’s a short break but these three days will be a bonus.

    “We’re hoping Santa delivers healthy players on Christmas and they will be able to be used on the 26th.”

    Palat doesn’t think he’ll be ready for Saturday, but is hopeful to be able to return before this end of their homestand, which ends on January 2nd.

    “I need a couple more practices with the team to get into the speed and game mode and then we’ll see how it’s going to feel,’’ Palat said.
