On the Ducks …

  • Eric Stephens of the OC Register: Ryan Getzlaf left the team yesterday to fly home to have a non-emergency appendectomy. He had been dealing with some pain on and off for the past six weeks.

    “He’s had it for a while,” Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. “At one point, they decided that we just got to get it done. And they decided this was the time to get it done.”

    He will have the procedure today and it will keep him out for four to 12 days.

  • Eric Stephens: Ducks Carl Hagelin has been slowed by an upper-body injury that he originally suffered in training camp.

On the Sharks …

  • Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area: Joonas Donskoi has missed past five games with a lower-body injury and is very close to returning. He’s been skating along side Joe Thornton and sounds like he’s ready to get back in.
  • Ben Smith has missed the past three games after taking a puck to the head. He’s taken part in their past two practices.

    “Felt good,” Smith said. “We’ll have to talk to the trainers and see how that whole protocol works.”

On the Blue Jackets …

  • Rob Mixer: No update on Ryan Johansen’s status. He’s still day-to-day and remains at home.

On the Panthers …

  • Panthers PR: Jaromir Jagr left last night’s game with a lower-body injury.

On the Kings …

  • Jon Rosen: Kings Dwight King is still on crutches. He was hurt on October 3rd, and there has been no change to the eight to 10 week recovery.

On the Penguins …

  • Seth Rorabaugh: Coach Mike Johnston said he thinks that Beau Bennett is close to returning.

On the Wild …

  • Chad Graff: Coach Mike Yeo said that Christian Folin has been dealing with “lower body tightness.”

On the Capitals …

  • Isabelle Khurshudyan: Coach Barry Trotz expects forward Justin Williams to play today. He has been at home sick.

On the Devils …

  • Tom Gulitti: Patrik Elias said he was feeling really good after his workout yesterday morning.

On the Maple Leafs …

  • Jonas Siegel: Both Tyler Bozak and Jake Gardiner practiced yesterday. It was Bozak’s first practice in almost two weeks. Gardiner hadn’t practiced in about a week.

  • Dean Brown: Curtis Lazar is out tomorrow and Mike Hoffman is doubtful.
  • Dean Brown: Marc Methot will let the Sens know today if he’s ready to go.
  • Don Brennan: Milan Michalek left practice early yesterday after being hit in the arm with a shot.

  • Brett Cyrgalis: Viktor Stalberg didn’t practice yesterday and he’s still day-to-day with a head injury.

  • Dave Isaac: Sean Couturier (concussion) is a possibility for Thursday.
