Jacob Trouba skating. Erik Karlsson won't skate until next week. Carl Gunnarsson done for the year. Joe Thonrton has a lower-body injury.
  • Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Blues Carl Gunnarsson has missed their past two games and his groin injury is still not fully healed.

“At first I thought I might be back right after it happened,” he said. “It kept lingering on a little bit, but it’s been progressing ever since. Hopefully it settles down here real quick and I’ll be ready to go. It was all right (Friday), not 100 percent, but we’ll get a day off Saturday and hopefully I’ll be ready to go next week.”

  • John Vogl of the Buffalo News: Sabres Josh Gorges will be ready for their season opener after missing some time with a lower-body injury.  Zach Bogosian is also out with a lower-body injury, but isn’t as far along as Gorges.

“He is working out and doing some off-ice workouts and progressing and progressing well,” coach Dan Bylsma said. “We don’t have a timeframe to return to getting on the skates.”

Brendan Guhle is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

  • John Vogl: Gorges had a “procedure” done to fix his lower-body injury.
  • Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: The Senators will be without goalie Andrew Hammond for at least the next two weeks with a groin injury. The injury isn’t considered serious.

“It’s probably two weeks at least,” Murray said. “It’s not a tear. It’s a pull. We have to be careful.”

  • Bob Duff: Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser will be out three to four weeks with strained ligaments in his foot.
  • Ted Wyman: Jets head coach said that Andrew Ladd and Adam Lowry injuries are only minor. Status for tonight is not known.
  • Roger Millions: Hearing that Joe Colborne’s injury could be long-term. It would help their log jam of forwards.
  • Kevin Kurz: Sharks Melker Karlsson skated yesterday, but isn’t available for their final two preseason games and is unlikely for their season opener.
  • Isabelle Khurshudyan: Capitals Brooks Orpik said he’s not sure on when he’ll return and if he’ll be ready for the season opener.
  • Brian Compton: The Islanders have put defenseman Thomas Hickey on the IR.
