Hejduk re-signs … Another week for Suter … No Kelly-Bruins talks … Habs, Oils coaching vacancy … Giroux has surgery
  • Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: The Avalanche have re-signed Milan Hejduk to a 1 year, $2 million deal. Hedjuk is coming off a career low 37 points in 81 games. He has 794 career points in 991 games.
  • Josh Cooper of the Tennessean: Predators defenseman Ryan Suter said he wanted to wait 2 weeks after they were eliminated from the playoffs to unwind. GM David Poile said he will try to meet with Suter after the 2 week period.
  • James Murphy of ESPN Boston: Contract talks with Chris Kelly and the Boston Bruins have hit a stalemate. There have been no talks between the two sides since the end of the playoffs for the Bruins. Kelly was offered a contract by the Bruins in February, but tabled talks until after the season.

“We haven’t heard from Peter yet so we’re just waiting for his call and we’ll hopefully get the dialogue going,” Morris said Friday. “Chris obviously has a warm spot in his heart for Boston since he won the Cup here and loves this team, so he has made it clear he’d like to stay, but we’re also going to have to keep our options open the closer we get to July 1.”

  • Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette: Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin won’t comment on rumors that Bob Hartley or Patrick Roy are the leading candidates for the head coaching position. A decision on a new coach could come quickly, or it could take a while.
  • Ted Kulfan via twitter: Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom will have a decision by mid-June: “I know they (the Wings) want to know and I want to be fair to the Wings, too.”
  • Aaron Portzline via twitter: The Blue Jackets will not be signing 2010 draft picks Petr Straka (# 55) and Brandon Archibald (# 94). They are still undecided on #102 pick, goalie Mathieu Corbeil. They’ll decide after he plays in the Memorial Cup. A couple weeks ago it looked like they wouldn’t sign him, but Portzline is getting the sense they might.
