  • The NHL suspended Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist for six games for his high-stick to the face of Minnesota defenseman Jared Spurgeon.

  • Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr picks up his 1,900th NHL point. He did so on his 45th birthday.

  • Calgary Flames forward Alex Chaisson spears Philadelphia Flyers forward Nick Cousins.

  • With a couple points last night, defenseman Brent Burns is tied for second in NHL scoring.

  • The Los Angeles Kings trade defenseman Tom Gilbert to the Washington Capitals for a conditional 5th round draft pick. Condition is if Gilbert plays in 50 percent of their playoff games and if they win two rounds. The Kings will retain 20 percent of his Gilbert’s salary.
