NHL Rumors: Canucks, Oilers, Wild, Habs, Sens, Pens and More
Nail Yakkupov of the Edmonton Oilers
On the Vancouve Canucks …

Darren Dreger: Canucks GM Jim Benning will be fined for his comments make about Steven Stamkos and P.K. Subban.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Ryan Rishaug: There was speculation that Nail Yakupov could have gotten moved today. The Oilers were wanting a prospect, picks were likely only offered.

Bob Stauffer: “I would be surprised if an organization gave up an asset that does NOT have to be protected in the Expansion draft for Nail Yakupov. The most likely scenario for “Yak” if he is traded is for a player that has played in the NHL and might need a fresh start.”

On the Minnesota Wild …

David Pagnotta: Wild GM Chuck Fletcher said “there should be a little bit more of a shakeup” to come this week and suggested that the Wild could be in on it.

On the Montreal Canadiens

Brian Wilde: GM Marc Bergevin said they don’t have anything “brewing.” The Canadiens will be looking for a top-six forward in free agency.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Shawn Simpson: The Senators are still trying to trade Patrick Wiercioch and Alex Chiasson. Doubtful that either would receive qualifying offers.

On the goalie market …

Kevin Kurz: With the goalie market as it is, wonder if James Reimer could return to the Sharks as their backup?

Chad Graff: Wonders the same about Darcy Kuemper remaining with the Wild as their backup.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Seth Rorabaugh: The Penguins don’t plan on sending prospect Anton Zlobin a qualifying offer. They won’t retain his rights and he’s signed with a KHL team.

Aivis Kalnins: Zlobin has a contract with Dynamo, but it’s unlikely that they he’ll play for them.

On the Buffalo Sabres …

John Vogl: Sabres GM Tim Murray on Jimmy Vesey: “He said good luck at the draft and we would touch base again next week.”
