Daniel Briere suspended 3 games for cross-checking Frans Nielsen

TSN: The NHL has suspended Philadelphia Flyers center Daniel Briere 3 games for cross-checking Frans Nielsen in the head.

There was a minute left to go in the game when Briere attacked Nielsen right after the puck was dropped. Briere said after the game that he wasn’t happy with the way the Islanders were handling a 6-1 loss.

Briere has been suspended on 2 other occasions. In November of 2009 he was suspended for 2 games for an illegal hit. In March of 2006 he got 2 games for a high-sticking incident.
