NHL Rumors: Canadiens, Devils, Leafs, Wild, Bruins and Ducks
Dale Weise knows the Montreal Canadiens could trade him by next week

On the Montreal Canadiens …

  • Eric Engels of Sportsnet: Dale Weise thinks the odds of him being traded are higher than him remaining with the Canadiens.

“For me to sit here and lie to you and say that I haven’t thought about or haven’t heard anything; that would be me lying,” said Weise Sunday. “There’s a human side to it where obviously this has been a dream come true — playing for the Montreal Canadiens — for me.

“This is where I want to be. I love Montreal. This is where I want to stay. But unfortunately the business side of it is I’m an unrestricted free agent and our team is on the outside looking in.”

The Ducks, Predators, and Penguins are believed to be interested in Weise.

  • Craig Custance: A GM said last week that the asking price for Dale Weise was a 2nd and 3rd round pick.
  • Brian Wilde: Going off of trades that have been made so far, Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin should be looking for a 2nd round pick for each of Dale Weise and Tom Gilbert.
  • Brian Wilde: Think the Canadiens should shop defenseman Andrei Markov. He would be a perfect fit on a second pairing on a team making a Cup run.

On the New Jersey Devils and Toronto Maple Leafs …

  • Larry Brooks of the NY Post: The Devils are looking for some offensive help and could do much worse that Maple Leafs P.A. Parenteau. Brooks wonders if former Devils GM and current Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello could get Eric Gelinas in a trade.

On the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild and Anaheim Ducks …

  • The Wild would consider Loui Eriksson a rental, and with their recent turn around, will continue to keep an eye on Eriksson.
  • The Ducks could have considered moving one of their pending RFA defensemen,  Hampus Lindholm or Sami Vatanen, if they didn’t turn their season around. They’ve gone 18-4-2 since Christmas and are unlikely to move one now.
