The Colorado Avalanche have traded Jarome Iginla to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional 2018 4th round draft pick.

Bob McKenzie: The Avalanche will retain 50 percent of Iginla’s salary.

The 39-year old Iginla was drafted 11th overall in the 1995 draft by the Stars. He carries a $5.3 million cap hit.

Some thoughts from the media …

Stephen Whyno: “Kings have added Ben Bishop and Jarome Iginla and subtracted Peter Budaj and Dwight King at the deadline. How much better are they?”

Curtis Zupke: “Kings make the Jarome Iginla trade official. LAK has been trying to find someone to play with Kopitar.”

Mark Lazerus: “The league is getting younger and faster. So the Kings are getting older and slower. OK, then.”

Greg Wyshynski: “Iginla is slow. The Kings need speed. But Darryl and Iggy. Iggy and Darryl.”
