The Columbus Blue Jackets traded defenseman Kris Russel to the St. Louis Blues for defenseman Nikita Nikitin. The deal was made shortly after the Blues lost to the Maple Leafs night.
Nikitin will be a restricted free agent after the season, and carries a $600,000 cap hit this year. Russell has a $1.3 million cap hit for this year and next.
