NHL Trade: The Stars and Coyotes Swap Four Minor Leaguers
Arizona Coyotes trade Justin Peters to the Dallas Stars

The Arizona Coyotes have traded goaltender Justin Peters and defenseman Justin Hache to the Dallas Stars for forwards Brandon Troock and Brendan Ranford.

Sean Shapiro: The Stars were looking to add a veteran AHL presence in net.

“We approached Arizona about potentially making the deal,” Dallas Stars assistant general manager and Texas Stars general manager Scott White said. “We were looking for a bit of a veteran presence to help out in Texas in goal, and then we took the conversation from there.”

“He’s a veteran goalie and he’s got a bit of a pedigree,” White said. “Arizona was in a place where a couple kids have grabbed the net (in the AHL), and he was looking for a net and he wants to prove he can continue to play and he knows he’s (an) unrestricted (free agent) after this season. I think this was a good fit for all sides.”

Tucson Roadrunners: The Coyotes were looking to create some more playing time for goalies with their AHL affiliate in Tucson.

“We feel that we have two very good young goaltenders in Adin Hill and Marek Langhamer and want to give them both a chance to play more,” said Soetaert. “Justin is a quality person who needed more ice time. Acquiring Ranford gives us a top-six forward who can score and Troock is a big, hard-working winger who can help us and add depth to our roster.”
