A longtime, bad NHL rumor is now out in the open. In Theo Fleury’s soon to be released book, “Playing With Fire,” he talks about being sexually abused by Graham James while he was in junior. Graham has already spent 3 1/2 years in prision for the abuse of Sheldon Kennedy.
Although Fleury has denied in the past about the abuse, many have thought his alcoholism and eratic behavior on and off the ice was attributed to James.
I find it amazing that Graham is coaching junior players in Europe. Did the team do any backchecks on this guy? Did they inform their players that their coach has served time in jail for abusing boys? He should be banned from coaching hockey.
I also hope that Fleury attempted hockey comeback wasn’t a marketing ploy to help sell his book. Many will probably think it was.
