NHL Video: Panther’s Receive An “Above and Beyond” Offer

Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon said the he received an offer for the first overall pick that goes “above and beyond” what is fair, but he’s going to sleep on it.

Darren Dreger: GM Tallon is telling teams that he has a really good offer for the pick, but he not sure if he’ll take it. The other offers he’s received are so-so.

Harvey Fialkov: Tallon saying it’s about a 70 percent chance they’ll keep the pick.

Gene Principe: Tallon said that he’ll contact two team tonight to further discuss their offers. He wouldn’t say if the teams were in the East or West.

The above and beyond offer would have to come from Philly. It’s what they do. The other one , that is close ….I dunno, Rangers ? At least one solid offer, and Tallon says he is 70% sure he will keep the pick. He is trying to drive up the price, and if he does…more power to him. I say he keeps the pick, and Ekblad is a Panther by tomorrow evening .

Bet it’s the nucks with Kesler involved

^ Good pick with the Canucks. They’re obviously dismantling their team, maybe build around a hopefully strong draft pick.

I think he could be just stating this so other teams go after the first overall… If panthers keep the pick they won’t pick ekblad

@Rob, most likely. If you receive an offer ‘well and beyond’, you don’t sleep on it, you take it. Especially if no one else out there is already making a good offer. Why else would you publicly state you have such an offer? Like a 16 year old girl on Facebook. If you are getting well and beyond value for what you are trading, you just take it.

Highly doubt it’s the Canucks. I don’t think Kesler will wave his no-trade to the Panthers…..no offense Florida.

The Isles maybe? Even though they pick at number 5, Snow may be looking for a record. Most number of dumb trades made by a GM in a single year?

Hope it is with the wild, that would be awesome. I’m thinking oilers since they are desperate.

    To Leafs: 1st, Campbell, Fleichmann
    To Panthers: 8th, Phanuef, Lupul
Why? I know the Panthers are interested in both Lupul and Phanuef, also the Panthers get a pick they can either trade, use on Ehlers, or Nylander, also they can get 2 dynamic player while only adding under 1 mil is salary cap. The leafs get shortened contracts, who will then take pay cuts, trade Phanuef without retaining any salary, get Soupy’s leadership, Draft Ekblad, or a Sam, and Still have Kadri and Gardener if they want another top 5 pick. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE TRADE, PLEASE INFORM ME WITH A COUNTER PROPOSAL.

Leaf’s stand pat and take Ehlers instead of giving up your best d man. there is just as well of a chance that Ehlers Ritchie or Nylander are going to be impact nhl players as good as aneyone going 1-5 this year, why give up your onely decent d man for an older d with a big cap hit this year that you loose next year

  12. #12 by Bcd at June 27th, 2014

Cuz phanuef is far from a decent dman and we have 3 kids who are better in 2-3 yrs time than phanewfie ever was

if the Leafs are involved it it will absolutely include JVR, Leaf fans dont want to hear that but it is a reality!!!

Guys, its okay if the Leafs make a bad deal, they do it all the time, atleast I’m being realistic.
