NHL Rumors VIII: Subban, Devils, Gionta, Callahan, Vanek and Alfredsson

  • Andy Strickland: P.K. Subban is looking for a bigger contract than the Blues gave Alex Pietrangelo, seven years and $45.5 million.
  • Jason Gregor: If P.K. Subban was only asking for $6.5 million, the Canadiens would have already signed him. Source said a couple weeks ago that Subban’s camp asked for over $8 million a season.
  • Tom Gulitti of the Bergon Record: Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said that Bryce Salvador is “100 percent” recovered from his labrum team in his right hip. On Ryane Clowe who suffered another concussion at the end of March, “fine with the knowledge we know.” Lamoriello said he’d like to re-sign Mark Fayne, Ryan Carter, Stephen Gionta and Steve Bernier.Brian Gionta’s agent, Steve Bartlett:

“We’re just kind of in discussions and the next probably few days will be critical to see (what happens),” Bartlett said. “We just kind of got serious about it in the last day or two, so we’ll kind of see what kind of progress we make on that one and whether he becomes a July 1 guy.”

Bartlett on talks with the Lightning regarding Ryan Callahan:

“Whether or not it gets done, it’s really hard to say for me,” Bartlett said. “I think that one could tip either way.”

Bartlett on pending UFA Thomas Vanek:

“He went through three teams in order to stick to that position and I don’t think that’s changing,” Bartlett said. “I think he’s been pretty firm on that for the last year and is going to stick by that. Nothing is going to change between now and July 1on on him, I don’t think.”

  • The Fourth Period: The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the Red Wings want to bring back Daniel Alredsson if he wants to play next year. They are interested in re-signing both Jonas Gustavsson and Dan Cleary.

Oh my m-f Jesus does that really say the wings want to bring back dan cleary? Even if cleary pays you to play on the team, he is not worth the roster spot. Holy shit. Even alfredsson is a question mark this year, with all the young guys, but I guess injuries can happen, I can just see the money spent better elsewhere. But CLEARY????

Google “Unwritten Agreement Dan Cleary” and find the wingingitinmotown article.

You’ll understand a bit better why Detroit is interested in signing him.

Needless to say, as a fan, I’m entirely unhappy about it.

    Hankbemis: Lose the language.

Cleary would be ok if he accepts a two way contract… but the team needs to move on. Put him in the front office!

@Not me – that article says he would likely be offered a front office position (as I would expect) and not a player contract.

@sterling – why are you telling me what to do? if there are rules posted on this site regarding language feel free to redirect me or ask mark to tell me to stop.

you can say shit on television sterling. this is an internet forum. i rarely talk like that on here. just very surprised at the cleary news. my famous jesus is unoffensive and if you chose to call him something else, that is on you.

Wow, Subban wants 8 million a year? What does that work out to, one dollar per dive?
