NHL Rumors I: GM and Coaching – Penguins, Panthers and Hurricanes
  • Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review: The Penguins have already spoken with Pat Brisson, Jason Botterill, Julien BriseBois and Dave Poulin about their vacant GM position. CEO David Morehouse is said to have spoken with contacts about, and possibly with: Norm MacIver, Rick Dudley, Jeff Gorton, Don Sweeney, Paul Fenton and George McPhee. The Penguins are believed to want to have a new GM in place in the next two weeks. The Penguins are also believed to be looking for a GM with a background in scouting and development.
  • Harvey Fialkov: The Panthers have five to seven coaching candidates and all appear OK with going to Florida. A decision will be made around mid-June.
  • Chip Alexander: Hurricanes GM Ron Francis has interviewed three people, with another three coming soon.
