VIDEO: SportsNet HC Trade Tracker: Flames David Jones

Hockey Central panel discusses whether the Calgary Flames should trade David Jones. Jones could bring a team some good secondary scoring, as he’s scored 20 goals twice before the lockout, but the 29-year old only scored three goals last season, with eight so far this season. Which Jones will you get?

He carries a $4 million salary cap hit, and with two years left on his deal, it’s the reason he won’t be traded according to Doug MacLean.

Who do you think should be interested in Jones, and at what cost?

Jones is overrated and I’m so happy the Avs traded away him and O’Brien for Tanguay and Sarich. I doubt he’ll be traded with the contract that is over paying an under producing player.

Overrated? I don’t think there are many out there who think highly of him to begin with. He’s scored 20 goals twice. Now, as average of a player he is, he could still be a piece to a winning team. Not a huge piece, but a piece.

He’s definitely battled through injuries through his career, but Jones is definitely capable of being a 20+ goal scorer again. I’m not sure if he would enjoy the limelight, but a trade back home to the Canucks might be just what both teams need. Jones for Booth straight up? This is a move that could work for both teams as Calgary receives a guy with one less year on his contract while the Canucks get a natural winger who couldn’t make them worse at scoring. It’s a good idea
