Morning Rumors: Predators, Hiller, Neuvirth, Backlund, Ruutu, Tlusty, Senators and Nyquist
  • Pierre LeBrun: If the Predators don’t get good news regarding Pekka Rinne’s hip, they could start making calls again for a goalie. They have spoken with the Ducks about Jonas Hiller. Capitals GM George McPhee may not be interested in moving Michal Neuvirth unless it’s a really good offer, think at least a top-four defenseman.
  • Darren Dreger: Four or five teams have kicked tires on Flames Mikael Backlund. The Flames are willing to trade him.
  • Darren Dreger: The Hurricanes have offered Tuomo Ruutu and Jiri Tlusty to teams in search for a puck-moving defenseman. Luke DeCock: Shouldn’t be a surprise the Hurricanes are offering Ruutu and his $4.75 million contract around, too easily knocked off the puck. Offering up Tlusty may indicate a lack of interest in re-signing.
  • James Gordon: Senators GM Bryan Murray said he isn’t inclined to make a move, a solution will be found within.
  • George Sipple: Red Wings GM Ken Holland on Gustav Nyquist: “He’s playing tomorrow night, so he’s here for the year.”
