Morning Rumors: Rinne, Ducks, Canadiens, Avalanche, Jets and Leafs
  • Kevin Allen of the USA Today: Allen thinks the Predators may be forced to trade for a goalie as they wait for Pekka Rinne to return. It’s not known when Rinne will return. He is scheduled to have another review before the end of the month. Before last night’s game, they had allowed three or more goals in eight of their last nine games. If they don’t acquire a goalie, their season may be lost. The best fit may be the Ducks as they are deep between the pipes. Being able to score some goals would also help the Predators.
  • Adrian Dater: The Canadiens were the only Eastern team scouting the Avalanche  – Panthers game last night. The Canadiens have been scouting the Avalanche a lot this season and they only play each other once. They could be looking at Paul Stastny or John Mitchell.
  • Gene Pereria: There are rumors circulating that if the Jets fire Claude Noel they could hire Barrie Colts coach Dale Hawerchuk.
  • Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun: The Maple Leafs were offered a “few major-league centers” but went with Peter Holland as he has an upside, where the others didn’t.
