The Buffalo Sabres have traded winger Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders for winger Matt Moulson, a 2014 1st round pick and a 2015 2nd round pick.
The 29-year old Vanek was drafted 5th overall by the Sabres in 2003. He carries a $7,142,857 cap hit and will be a UFA at the end of the season.
The 29-year old Moulson was drafted 263rd overall in the ninth round of the 2003 draft by the Penguins. He carries a $3,133,333 cap hit and will be a free agent at the end of the year.
