Injury Notes: Red Wings, Hurricanes, Devils, Penguins, Rangers, Islanders and Kovalchuk
  • Ted Kulfan: Red Wings GM Ken Holland said that Darren Helm will go on the LTIR, with Jordin Tootoo and Jonas Gustavsson going on the IR. Ansar Khan: Patrick Eaves on LTIR gives the Wings $1.2 million in cap relief.
  • Chip Alexander: Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford said they are “keeping fingers crossed” that Alex Semin and Elias Lindholm will be ready for the opener.  Tim Gleason and Tuomo Ruutu won’t play.
  • Rich Chere: The Devils put Mattias Tedenby on the non-roster IR.
  • Tom Gulitti: The Devils put Patrick Elias on the IR, and is backdated to last Tuesday, when the injury occurred. GM Lou Lamoriello on if Elias will be able to play in the opener.

    “We’re certainly hoping and he sounds good and if that happens we’ll have to make a move.”

  • Steve Zipay: Rangers Carl Hagelin on the LTIR puts them about $1.3 million under the cap ceiling.
  • Arthur Staple: The Islanders may be treating Travis Homonic for a possible concussion. Not thought to be long-term.
  • Chip Alexander: The Hurricanes haven’t put Joni Pitkanen on the LTIR yet, could happen today.
  • Igor Eronko: Ilya Kovalchuk will be out at least two games with an upper-body injury after being hit by teammate Alex Ponikarovsky.
