Sabres-Leafs Brawl: Ott, Scott, Rosehill, Clarkson and Kessel
  •  Tony Ambrogio: Sabres Steve Ott on the media’s negative reaction to the Sabres-Leafs brawl: “The people that don’t love it probably shouldn’t cover the sport anymore.”
  • Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News(link has audio for Scott, Miller, Ott and Rolston) Sabres John Scott:

“I said, ‘Phil I think we’re going to have to go here, just to let you know,’ ” Scott said. “I would have went after who ever they put lined up next to me. I don’t know what their coach had in mine. I wasn’t trying to hurt him. I was just trying to send a message.”

“Hey, I’d be pissed off if someone went after my star guy too,” Scott said. “It’s one of those things. Their coach didn’t have to put Kessel out with me.

  • Tim Panaccio: Jay Rosehill on the brawl: “When a guy the size of Scott is going after Phil Kessel and there’s not a lot of guys on the ice to do something about it, it’s kinda like Clarkson has no choice.”
  • James Mirtle: Maple Leafs David Clarkson will forfeit $269,230.80 in salary for his 10-game suspension. The Leafs will also have to add about $75,000 in salary to place him.
  • Darren Dreger: Maple Leafs Phil Kessel will have a hearing at 4 pm today.
  • Craig Custance: One GM suggested one way to eliminate designated fighters would be to reduce the roster limit by one to 22. The NHLPA may not like that though.
