Morning Hits: Stepan, Morrow, Oilers heavyweight seach and Fleury

  • Larry Brooks of the NY Post: Rangers RFA Derek Stepan is looking for a two-year deal at $7 million. The Rangers are said to be offering about $6.4 million over two-years.
  • Josh Rimer: The Blues are believed to be offering Brenden Morrow a one-year deal for $1 million. Morrow was looking for $2 million a season when free agency started.
  • Bob McKenzie: The Oilers were looking for a super heavyweight before Saturday night, are now ramping up their search.
  • Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun: Simmons wonders if Penguins Marc-Andre Fleury struggles during the season, if they would consider trading for goaltender, such as Tim Thomas.
