- TSN: Yesterday the NHL finalized the sale of the Coyotes to the IceArizona group. They paid $170 million for the team. The arena lease has an out clause in five years.
“I’m a good, solid Canadian like a good number of people in this ownership group and unfortunately it’s very difficult for people to accept that hockey can be successful in a non-traditional market,” LeBlanc said. “But we like to point to markets like San Jose and Dallas, even in the Carolinas, where hockey has really thrived. We feel that the same will happen here. But the reality is it’s an investment and we have to protect ourselves, and hence the reason for the out clause.”
- Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: The Senators and Jared Cowen continue to talk, but they aren’t close to a deal. If they are looking for a long-term deal, some think that Cowen’s side would be after something like Travis Hamonic’s seven-year, $27 million deal with the Islanders.
- Igor Eronko: Ilya Bryzgalov is working out with Fargestad’s goalie coach Erik Granqvist in Karlstad. Bryzgalov is still hoping to find a job in the NHL.

- Dan Rosen of NHL.com: The Kings Willie Mitchell continues his rehab. He’s skating at the Kings training facility in hopes of getting ready for training camp. Mitchell hasn’t spoken to the media about his rehab, but GM Dean Lombardi said Mitchell has become more enthusiastic as he progresses. The Kings have nine defensemen on one-way contracts.
