Free Agent Hits III: Bozak, Filppula, Weiss, Alfredsson, Scuderi, Briere and the Predators
  • Pierre LeBrun: The Stars, Blues, Flames, Ducks and Red Wings are among the teams kicking tires on Tyler Bozak. The Leafs are still in it.
  • Pierre LeBrun: The Wings are still talking with Valtteri Filppula. LeBrun thinks that Stephen Weiss would be their No. 1 option.
  • Darren Dreger: Dreger notes that Bozak negotiations could impact Phil Kessel as well. Does Kessel want to re-sign if Bozak goes?
  • Darren Dreger: Bozak is focused on re-signing with the Maple Leafs. Dallas could be a contender as they are looking for a center and Bozak and Jamie Benn are good friends.
  • Pierre LeBrun: A lot of teams reached out to Daniel Alfredsson yesterday. The Bruins were among the more aggressive teams. The Red Wings also called.
  • Will DePaoli: There is talk that Rob Scuderi wants play in the East and in a less hectic city. Still possible that he stays in LA though.
  • Pierre LeBrun: LeBrun thinks the three finalists for Daniel Briere are the Devils, Predators and Canadiens.
  • Josh Cooper of the Tennessean: The Predators will once again be looking to add a forward through free agency.

“We’ll try to get the best forward we can sign,” general manager David Poile said. “There will be certain characteristics that we will be looking for to get the best one at this position.”

Some options include: Mike Ribeiro, Derek Roy, Daniel Briere, Nathan Horton, Viktor Stalberg, Ryane Clowe and Michael Ryder.
