Quick Hits: DiPietro, Oilers and Leafs coaching notes, Kampfer and Blunden

  • The Fourth Period: A source is saying the Islanders are still considering buying out Rick DiPietro. It’s unclear when the Islanders would do this. Teams have until July 4th. If they buy him out, would cost $24 million over 16 years, $1.5 million per season.
  • Mark Spector: Keith Acton will join Dallas Eakins and the Oilers as an associate coach. Smith, Buchberger and Chabot will be back.
  • James Mirtle: The Maple Leafs have interviewed Derek King and Gord Dineen for the Marlies head coaching position.
  • Michael Russo: The Wild signed Steve Kampfer to a one-year, two-way deal.
  • Dave Stubbs: The Canadiens sign Michael Blunden to a one-year, two way contract.
