Free Agent Hits: Alfredsson, Lecavalier fits, Bruins and the Maple Leafs

  • Marie Lehmann: Daniel Alfredsson: “I needed a few weeks to see if the necessary urge for summer training and precamp was there. And it is.” Bruce Garrioch: The Senators will make news official later and contract negotiations will start this weekend. Nick Kypreos: Will be interesting to see how quick the Senators sign Alfredsson knowing that it might cost them $6+ million. Darren Dreger: Talk of Alfredsson and a one year deal, but he could ask for two years.
  • Craig Custance of ESPN: Top 5 fits for Vincent Lecavalier: Canadiens, Rangers, Maple Leafs, Capitals and Blackhawks.
  • Darren Dreger: The Bruins are making progress with contracts for Patrice Bergeron, Nathan Horton and Tuukka Rask. Rich Peverley could be available for trade.
  • Damien Cox: If Lecavalier is looking for a a six-year plus deal at $6 million plus, would anyone bite? The Maple Leafs prefer to re-sign Tyler Bozak over signing UFAs Lecavalier, Mike Ribeiro, Derek Roy and Stephen Weiss. If Bozak wants $5 million or more, the Leafs will likely turn elsewhere. Talks have almost been non-existent.

6 for vinny is a bit much – isn’t a ppg player any more. Let the habs take him, they need anothe albatross contract and underperforming player for leaf fans to bite on. I miss scott gomez….
