NHL Rumors IV: Hurricanes, Bruins, Red Wings, Oilers and Blackhawks
  • Chip Alexander: GM Jim Rutherford said the deadline day could be quiet for the Hurricanes. Not expecting to add another defenseman after the Bergeron acquisition. Rutherford added, “We can’t make a trade that would help us more than getting Justin (Faulk) back.”
  • Jimmy Murphy: Murphy doens’t think the Bruins are done, still want to a defenseman.
  • Craig Custance: With Jaromir Jagr and Jay Bouwmeester traded, Custance isn’t sure if the Red Wings will do much by tomorrow.
  • Craig Cusance: There is nothing imminent on the Keith Yandle front. A trade would have to make a lot of sense for the Coyotes to move him. They would need a legit top-six center.
  • Bruce Garrioch: Having more than one team involved with Ryan Clowe is slowing the deal down.
  • Bob Stauffer: Stauffer doesn’t see the Oilers moving Ryan Whitney. They could trade pending UFA Randy Jones or depth defenseman like Theo Peckham.
  • Patrick King: If King were the Leafs or Canadiens, would jump in an grab a big name, the prices are reasonable.
  • James Duthie: Nice acquisition for the Blackhawks, both Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa will be back in the lineup on Thursday.
