NHL Rumors VI: Flames give Maple Leafs permission to talk with Kiprusoff
  • Bruce Arthur: Dreger to Arthur: “The Kiprusoff train is rolling between Dave Nonis and Jay Feaster right now, it really is.” Sides talked today. Dreger said that the Maple Leafs would prefer to extend Kiprusoff by a year or two. Kiprusoff could be interest in Toronto and open to a deal. Family is not an impediment.
  • Aaron Ward: The Flames have given the Maple Leafs permission to talk to Kiprusoff’s representatives.
  • Bob McKenzie: Another team is talking to the Flames about Kiprusoff.
  • Pierre LeBrun: No deal is imminent, and there is no guarantee that he is traded anywhere. Next season Kiprusoff is scheduled to make $1.5 million, but has a $5.8 million salary cap hit. There has been speculation that he may sign off on a deal if he could get another year financially. He can’t officially sign an extension until July as he still has a year left on his deal.
  • Iain MacIntyre: If Kiprusoff agrees to go to the Leafs, creates a tougher situation for the Canucks.
