Jarome Iginla traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins


The Calgary Flames have traded right winger Jarome Iginla to the Pittsburgh Penguins for left winger Kenneth Agostino, center/right winger Ben Hanowski and a 2013 1st round pick.

Iginla was originally drafted by the Dallas Stars in 1995, 11th overall. The 35-year old right winger carries a $7 million cap hit and will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

The 20-year old Agostino was drafted in the 5th round, 140th overall by the Penguins in the 2010 draft.

The 22-year old Hanowski was drafted in the 3rd round, 63rd overall by the Penguins in the 2009 draft.

    im so confused….

    did boston leak info too early, and then pens upped their offer? or whats going on? this some eric lindros shenanigans all over again?

    @Leaf_fan I get the feeling Feaster and the Flames knew that whatever team they traded Iginla too would probably be the odds on favorite to win the cup. And possibly took that statement from Chiarelli this morning about Subban as a direct slight thru the media, or were upset about the way a possible Iginla trade was handled in Boston with Media leaks.

    I hate to speculate because there’s other possibilities like Iginla was steering the ship the whole time and wanted only to go to PIT or something like that, but like u i get the feeling something else behind the scenes is going on here.

    this is pretty crazy.. i watched both mtl-bos and col-cal last night and all they could talk about was iginla to boston…

    i think tsn via aaron ward botched the announcement of iginla to boston without confirming it…

    pretty dramatic events
