Quick Hits: DeKeyser, Soderberg, Maloney scouting Penguins, Dvorak, Crawford, Bishop and Brodeur
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: Teams are getting ready for a full-court press on college free agent Danny DeKeyser. Oilers owner Daryl Katz has already called him. Some teams will make a personal pitch in Toronto tomorrow and Wednesday. At least one NHL coach is expected to be there. DeKeyser will likely have his equipment with him so that he can fly directly to the city he signs with. Maple Leafs were front and center when Brian Burke was with the team. Anaheim said to be heavily in the mix now. Top contenders could be the Red Wings, Blues, Ducks and Oilers. Flyers and Senators will be pushing hard.
  • Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: The Red Wings believe they are the front-runners for Danny DeKeyser. It’s equal ground contract wise for every team as he’s tied with an entry-level. He grew up in Michigan and has ties to the organization.
  • Kevin Paul Dupont via twitter: Bruins prospect Carl Soderberg’s team is about to start their 2nd round of the SEL playoffs. Would be at least another 7-10 before he could become an option for the Bruins.
  • Adam Gretz via twitter: Coyotes GM Don Maloney was listed on the attendance sheet in Pittsburgh last night. It was the second time in the last week that he’s been Pittsburgh.
